How close can a person be to you when their voice echoes in your ears around the clock, even if they are not physically present in your life? How far can a friendship go when both people live hundreds of kilometers apart but cannot let go of each other? A student from Berlin meets a film school student during a television internship in Munich in the 1990s, taking over her workplace every day during shift changes. From these brief encounters, a relationship develops that does not end when the student returns to Berlin. Through mutual short messages on their mailboxes, they continue to participate in each other's lives until the boundaries between lived, narrated, and imagined reality blur, and it becomes unclear who plays what role in the other's film.
