The practically borderless display maximizes the screen area, housing a 39.6 cm (15.6") display in a notebook that, thanks to a bezel width of only 5.7 mm, resembles a 14-inch notebook.
The XPS 15 measures a sleek 11 to 17 mm and has a starting weight of 1.8 kg with a solid-state drive. This makes it one of the lightest 39.6 cm (15.6") performance-class notebooks in the world.
Precisely machined from a single block of aluminum, the result is a stable, robust chassis with an elegant design. Corning Gorilla Glass 4 is twice as resilient compared to other products.
The palm rest is made of carbon fiber. It is sturdy and as thin as aluminum, yet lighter and more comfortable.

Klar, 1799 Euro sind eine Menge Geld. Für eine vielseitige Notebook-Tablet-Kombi mit brillantem 4K-Display, schnellem Prozessor-Grafikchip-Verbund und vergleichsweise viel SSD-Speicher geht der Preis aber in Ordnung. Zumal das Dell XPS 15 auch noch mit einer ordentlichen Akkulaufzeit überraschte.

Kaby Lake G ermöglicht hohe Performance bei geringem Platzbedarf. Dells Ingenieure waren beim hochwertigen XPS 15 2-in-1 (9575) für unseren Geschmack allerdings etwas übereifrig, was die Gerätedicke anbelangt: Etwas mehr Bauhöhe hätte Platz für eine Tastatur mit mehr Hub geschaffen und wahrscheinlich auch mehr Volumen für das Kühlsystem, dass dann hätte leiser ausfallen können...
