The effective length of a turntable belt refers to the length of the belt when it is tensioned around the drive and idler pulleys of the turntable under normal operating conditions. This length is important because it determines how well the belt fits and how effectively it transmits the rotational motion from the motor to the platter. A belt that is too short may be overly tight, leading to increased strain on the motor and potential speed distortion. Conversely, a belt that is too long may be too loose, resulting in slippage and inaccurate speed control. To determine the length, it is best to cut the old belt and measure the total length.
