Under the name RaspBee II, dresden elektronik is launching an add-on module for the popular Raspberry Pi Zero, 1, 2B, 3B, 3B+, and 4B single-board controllers. This shield opens up access to the ZigBee world for all Raspberry fans. Together with deCONZ for the Raspberry Pi and the ZigBee firmware, the combination of Raspberry Pi and RaspBee II becomes a LAN-ZigBee gateway. This provides you with another access point to dresden elektronik's convenient lighting control system. RaspBee II offers interesting software interfaces that enable the development of custom software components for collaboration with ZigBee components of various profiles at different levels. The RaspBee II is equipped with a bootloader, so no additional programming adapters are required. You will find a command-line tool for firmware updates using the bootloader, as well as the ZigBee firmware. The development of custom firmware is explicitly encouraged. A port for the MAC stack is offered, and add-ons for prominent protocol stacks will follow. Together with the universal ZigBee software deCONZ, the Raspberry Pi becomes a lighting control center.
