The DrumDial drum tuner is designed for precise and easy tuning of drum heads. Tuning is accomplished by measuring the skin tension, which can be read off the scale on the DrumDial. To tune, proceed as follows:

1. Position the tuner where you can easily read the scale. Place the tuning probe on the drum head by slowly applying weight until the full weight of the tuner rests on the drum. The "foot" of the DrumDial should be approximately 2 cm from the edge, directly in front of a tensioning screw. This distance can be easily determined using the DrumDial edge gauge. Attach it to the "neck" of the DrumDial and position the tuner so that the edge gauge lightly touches the inner surface of the tension ring. Remove your hand from the DrumDial (ensure that you do not place your hand on the drum head, as this would lead to incorrect readings). Read the measured value on the scale. Move the tuner to the next clamping screw, ensuring you load the tuner slowly. Identify the tensioning screw with the highest measured value and adjust the other screws to match this value. Tighten each tension screw only a little at a time to ensure the drum head fits properly.

2. Move the DrumDial from tuning point to tuning point, tightening the individual tensioning screws to achieve the same measured values. Continue this process until the drum head is sufficiently taut and properly seated.

3. At this point, the drum should be tuned "in itself." If you desire a different tone, carefully tighten or loosen the individual tension screws until the desired tuning result is achieved, aiming for consistent measured values again.
