Utilisation categories include AC-1 for non-inductive or weakly inductive loads and resistance furnaces, AC-3 for squirrel cage motors (starting and switching off while running), and AC-4 for squirrel cage motors (starting, counter-current braking, reversing, inching).

Connection technology features screw terminals. It is also suitable for motors of efficiency class IE3, with IE3-capable devices labelled accordingly.
