The term "Electric Power Supply" encompasses the generation, transmission, and provision of electrical energy. Research focuses in this technical field include the optimization of existing electrical systems and the development of new components. In the first step, this work provides insights into the historical and technical foundations of the topic, addressing the development of power electronics up to the present day. The second focus is on presenting the economic, ecological, political, and social dimensions of energy supply, which is based on the preceding introduction to the technical fundamentals. Anticipated changes and necessary adjustments are presented and examined in terms of their feasibility. Finally, the issue of how we should manage our use of electrical energy is discussed.
