Product details

The Islamic scholar and Orientalist Georg Jacob (1862-1937) describes in this volume the connection between fairy tales and dreams, with a particular focus on the Orient. The dream is unconscious poetry. The dreamer creates a story in which characters appear, to whom he assigns their roles. The fairy tale begins its development with the translation of the dream experience into the waking state. Jacob was the first translator and editor of modern Turkish literature in the German-speaking world, including the Turkish Library. He also published extensive works on the history of shadow theater. This is a reprint of the original edition from 1923.
