The HPE Smart Array P816i-a SR Gen10 Controller supports SAS drives with 12 Gb/s and PCIe 3.0. It offers enterprise-grade performance, reliability, security, and storage efficiency needed to meet increasingly demanding data storage requirements. The controller has 16 internal SAS lanes that allow connections to SAS or SATA drives. It supports mixed mode operation of RAID and HBA simultaneously and encrypts data at rest on all drives. The Smart Array P816i-a SR Gen10 Controller is excellent for optimizing performance. It also supports advanced RAID levels with 4 GB Flash-Backed Write Cache. This type A modular controller occupies a dedicated storage slot and does not use a PCIe expansion slot. The Gen10 controllers can be used with the HPE Smart Storage Battery, which supports multiple devices and is sold separately.
