Hydra motor capacitors with overpressure cut-off MKP-Si technology series 500 offer safety, as capacitors can fail under extreme operating conditions or after reaching their lifespan. These capacitors are manufactured with a built-in overpressure cut-off. In the event of destruction, a pressure increase occurs in the capacitor due to gas formation and temperature rise, which can cause a housing extension of up to 9 mm through the stretching of the fold seam. This leads to a disconnection of the supply line at the predetermined breaking point, safely isolating the capacitor from the network. Hydra capacitors are certified by the VDE Testing and Certification Institute and comply with the safety class P2 requirements according to EN 60252.

The Hydra motor capacitors can be mounted vertically or horizontally. To ensure the proper triggering of the overpressure cut-off due to the length expansion of the capacitor housing, a minimum distance of approximately 12 mm from the terminal to adjacent components must be observed.

The construction consists of a metallized polypropylene aluminum housing with or without metal pins and an environmentally friendly filling material (plant oil).
