The Korg volca sample 2 is based on the globally successful volca sample and brings numerous improvements and features as a consistent evolution. First and foremost, the compact sample player now includes a mini-USB port, allowing for easy management and exchange of samples via a connected computer. Additionally, this port can also be used for USB-MIDI signals, making the volca sample 2 the first volca ever to send MIDI data to the outside world straight from the factory without modifications.

In contrast to its predecessor, the doubled memory offers space for up to 200 samples, with 150 (some of which are revised) samples included out of the box. The volca-typical sequencer now features, in addition to the already known functions, 16 memory slots for custom patterns and a pattern chain function. The popular features from the previous model, such as reverb effect, swing function, the analog "isolator" filters, and the numerous controllers for real-time manipulation of individual samples, have been retained.
