Product details

How is it possible to move really heavy telephoto lenses as easily as a feather? With a gimbal mount, mounted on a sturdy tripod! There are several names for this useful device, which is particularly common in the USA and is called a Gimbal Head there. In German, the technical term "Kardankopf" fits best, although many photographers casually refer to it as "Affenschaukel."

The Leofoto PG-3 Gimbal Head is made from 10-layer carbon material, combining the lightness with the stability of carbon. Especially when using an extremely heavy camera-lens combination, you will quickly come to appreciate the advantages of this material. The large adjustment knobs allow for optimal resistance settings on both axes. With the ability to adjust the height of the adapter plate and to slide the quick-release plate (Arca-Swiss style) forward and backward, you can perfectly balance the weight of your camera equipment. The lens center is positioned directly over the pivot point, allowing this gimbal head to also be used as a panoramic head. The 360° scale and the integrated bubble level at the base pivot joint assist in proper shot positioning.

The tripod head is made from high-quality 100% carbon, constructed in 10 layers, providing maximum vibration damping properties and stability at a relatively low weight. For the metal parts, Leofoto uses high-quality 6061-T6 aluminum alloy with magnesium and silicon as alloying components. This corrosion-resistant material is characterized by high strength and good toughness, with a yield strength comparable to construction steel. All parts are machined from solid material on state-of-the-art CNC machines, making them significantly more stable than cast pieces. Leofoto makes no compromises here!.
