When there is too much light or if you want to use a different aperture at the same shutter speed, you can use a gray filter. The filter reduces the intensity of light. With the Marumi DHG ND32 filter, you can slow down a specific aperture value by 5 stops.

You do not need to stop down the aperture further if you desire a longer shutter speed. This longer shutter speed allows you to capture motion in an image and prevents the moving image from being duplicated or "ghosted." A good example is a picture of flowing water, as seen in the images.
