The sensor consists of a cylindrical, nickel-plated metal body with M18 threading and 2 flat nuts. The cable outlet is located opposite the front face. On the side, there is a yellow LED that lights up in a dimmed state. The oscillator generates a high-frequency electromagnetic field that exits at the front face of the sensor. It creates a spatial area above the active surface, referred to as the active switching zone. When an electrically conductive material enters the field, energy is drawn from the oscillator. This dampens the oscillations to the point where they either stop completely or are significantly reduced. When the conductive material is removed from the active zone, the oscillator can resume oscillating at full amplitude. These two states can be electronically evaluated with the DRIW-E16.
