The thermistor relay is used as a protection relay for motors against thermal overload (unacceptable heating). This heating can occur due to mechanical overload on the shaft or when operating the motor with unacceptable voltages. A thermistor (PTC) is used as a sensor, which is ideally placed on the part of the motor that heats up the most under overload (e.g., integrated into the motor winding). The device can also be used with motors that have an integrated thermal switch. It features an integrated fault memory with a front-side reset button or the option to connect an external reset button.
