Automatic Reverse Adapter for the Sony FE-Mount System

The new NEX-RETRO reverse adapter allows owners of Sony FE-Mount cameras to easily and versatilely enter the fascinating world of macro photography. The reverse adapter is suitable for all prime and zoom lenses, both for full-frame and APS-C lenses. The adapter comes with a 58 mm filter thread as standard. For lenses with a different filter diameter, NOVOFLEX offers compatible step rings as accessories. Additionally, the NEX-RETRO transmits all control functions between the camera and lens, such as aperture control and EXIF data.

A crucial factor is image quality. At magnification ratios above 1:1, many lenses achieve significantly better image quality in reverse position compared to normal use. For example, when directly attached to the camera with the 18–105 mm zoom lens in reverse position at a focal length setting of 45 mm, a magnification ratio of 2:1 is achieved. Even larger magnification ratios are possible with the help of bellows devices. For instance, a 35 mm wide-angle prime lens combined with a BALPRO 1 at full bellows extension can achieve a magnification ratio of 6:1. Furthermore, the universal bellows devices from the BALPRO and CASTBAL series, in conjunction with the NEX-RETRO, become automatic bellows devices with full transmission for the Sony FE-Mount system.
