You are holding a book that has been entirely written and designed by students. But why this project? Why invest so much time in a student initiative? When looking at German classes in high school, it quickly becomes apparent that even from the lower grades, personal creativity and the ability to create are overshadowed by factual texts and analyses. For many years, the primary task of children is to read texts and question the linguistic design of other authors. Being able to comprehend and understand texts is certainly an important skill to discern the intentions behind, for example, a newspaper article in later life. However, does this foster a love for language, reading, and personal creation? Rather not, as the mindless search for allegory, alliteration, or allusion becomes an end in itself and does not promote creativity.
