Tradespeople are often faced with the problem of needing to connect their power tools to outlets whose safety they cannot verify. Faulty electrical installations, such as missing ground wires or swapped ground and live wires, are usually not detectable without a closer inspection, making them particularly dangerous. When the PRCD-S+ is plugged into an outlet with an unknown safety measure, an automatic routine check is performed. The PRCD-S+ can only be activated if the outlet is in perfect and safe condition (the signal unit blinks green). The signal unit then lights up continuously in green. Only then can the electrical device be switched on.

After the electrical device is activated, the PRCD-S+ functions as a residual current device, protecting the user from dangerous currents that can be caused by defective electrical equipment. Additionally, the PRCD-S+ features a voltage drop disconnection, which prevents the device from automatically restarting after a power outage.
