A digital SLR camera with an image sensor that has been specially developed for the ultimate quality in monochrome black and white photography. Conventional image sensors receive the light through a matrix of red, green and blue filters. Each pixel only captures one colour component. In order to create a black and white image from this, conventional cameras have to carry out interpolation. Colour data is converted into monochrome data. The exclusive monochrome image sensor, on the other hand, only captures the brightness information that each pixel receives and thus generates the finest black and white images with a higher resolution and finer gradations - without interpolation. To optimise the quality of black and white images, the camera has a special monochrome CMOS image sensor, without a low-pass filter, with approx. 25.73 megapixels (effective) in APS-C format. This also makes this camera ideal for astrophotography.
