Here's what the manufacturer says: Flexible base: the flexible GorillaPod legs and rotating ball head offer countless positioning possibilities for creative viewing angles.
I don't think it's possible to put the phone upright, though.

No, it only comes with a mobile phone holder, which itself is attached by a bolt which is far shorter than the ones used for GoPros.
Good day. You can only clamp a mobile phone in the tripod and only in landscape format. An iPad is too big and would also be too heavy.
I don't have an iPhone 11 Pro Max. But the largest suitable width of a smartphone in the Joby One GP is about 9 cm.
Handles can be pulled apart up to 90mm (width of the mobile phone), so should fit many models.

the s9+ works without any problems, so the S8+ will also work.
This is already prepared (the mobile phone holder thing can be unscrewed and then the camera on it) but I strongly doubt that the tripod is strong enough to hold a SLR.
