I am very enthusiastic about the new Airpods 4 and can NOT agree with the previous negative comments. Great sound and decent ANC for headphones of this design.

The new AirPods really surprised me: Sure, the ANC isn't as strong as with the AirPods Pro or my Sony over-ear headphones... but these AirPods are really perfect for use on the train or in the tram. And for earbuds without silicone tips, the overall package is really impressive. Comfortable to wear and a great fit for my ears.

Apple hardly puts a foot wrong with the AirPods 4. I’d liked to have got two more hours of music from a single charge. But that’s my only qualm. In most other aspects, there are huge differences compared to the third gen. The only question you need ask yourself is: do you like the classic AirPods? If so, I don’t have to think twice before recommending the AirPods 4, even if you own the third generation. On the other hand, if you’re after high-end sound and top-of-the-range noise cancellation (ANC), the classic AirPods won’t hit the right note anyway.
And yes, it’s worth paying the relatively low premium of 50 francs for the version with ANC, transparency mode and better case. I’d only recommend the non-ANC AirPods 4 if money is very tight at the moment.

Solid Airpods, extremely comfortable for my ears and hold well. I also like the sound and the operation - uncomplicated in combination with an Apple device.
However, I expected more from the ANC: it acts a bit confused and incomprehensible - certain sounds are filtered out quite well, others not at all. Perhaps this will be improved on the software side? It would be great if it worked.
Update 23.09.2024: It's definitely not ANC, but proper Active Noise REDUCTION. It can reduce various noises, but I can understand every word of a nearby conversation, for example. Another example: I can hear travelling noise on the bus, albeit reduced. Cancellation is something else.

I've had them for a few months and think they're great. The only problem: ANC on the right is defective, which leads to annoying popping noises, so unfortunately they can't be used unless you deactivate ANC. But I bought them precisely because of ANC!
