Delock DisplayPort Switch
Delock DisplayPort Switch
A total bad buy. The product works (very well, if you use it correctly), but not the way I would have liked to use it.
Initial situation: I have a MacBook, a Windows laptop and a gaming PC, which I wanted to connect to a display using the KVM.
In addition, I only wanted one keyboard/mouse each, which I could then share on both devices via the KVM.
So far so clear.
What works: Display switching for all three devices. Even with a high resolution of 3440x1440 @ 60 Hz.
What works: KVM switching of keyboard and mouse.
So what's the problem:
The KVM emulates a standard keyboard (102/105 keys) and a standard 3-button mouse to the connected PCs.
So if you connect a Mac keyboard, it will work, but it will not be recognised as a Mac keyboard but as a standard PC keyboard.
The Mac function keys will then not work.
The same applies to my actual keyboard, the Logitech Gaming G513, and the Logitech Gaming Mouse G502.
These are also only passed on as standard devices and therefore work on all laptops and PCs, but of course the extended gaming functions cannot be used in this way.
Now I have to say that the manual does say that there are problems with wireless mice.
It also says that it's best to simply use standard peripherals.
So that's my fault, and not necessarily the fault of the product.
But I would have preferred device passthrough rather than device emulation.
There are also limitations, namely with multi-monitor setups.
I want to use the display on the Windows laptop and the MacBook as a second monitor for the desktop extension.
This works to the extent that the monitor is recognised and also displays a second desktop.
However, it is not possible to navigate to the second desktop.
The KVM has a practical function: if you move the mouse from one edge of the screen to the other, it switches to the next input.
The problem with this is that if you want to drag a window from one desktop to the other, the KVM interprets it as a "switch command", which can then inadvertently lead to the inputs being switched. Totally annoying, and you can't switch it off either.
As a workaround, you can plug the mouse into the front instead of the back, in which case this "mouse move" is not recognised. But then it's totally impractical in terms of cabling, because the front USB ports should rather be used for things like USB sticks.
All in all: For PCs with standard peripherals and a single monitor, this is certainly a great product.
But only suitable for my purpose with some compromises. What a pity.
The price is fair, the USB cables are included (but not the DP cables), and the device is also of high quality overall, apart from the cheap remote control.

- The mouse port doesn't always work: sometimes the mouse movement makes the kvm switch to another pc (I use one of the front usb ports)
- The usb ports can't be used to charge a phone (slow charge)

The main problem is that there is no screen emulation, so when you switch from a computer to another, it's like unplugging and re-plugging the DP cable every time. This means that you need to configure the "new" screen every time you switch. My previous KVM (Aten CS1794), which I had to leave to upscale the resolution, did not have this problem, so it allowed much faster switching. The issue is a bit less impacting if you use a desktop computer, as this is the only screen, so it automatically adjust.
Other reviews mention an issue about the KVM switching form an input to another when the mouse hit the side of the screen. I do not have this issue with my model.

I had the previous model and was thrilled. Now even higher resolutions are possible, especially on the HDMI output.
The only serious disadvantage is the remote control, which requires visual contact, and the fact that the Displayport cables were not used in this version.
So far I am very satisfied, I have connected 3 PCs, the 4th is not yet possible because I only have HDMI output and no Displayport.
My dream KVM would be Displayport / HDMI input and output at this super price of just under 180.
