    Online constraint

The printer would be perfect for on the road, if not for the online constraint. Unfortunately, not specified in the description.

    HP customer account compulsion

Printer WOULD have a FUNCTIONING USB port, but this is deactivated after about 20 pages of printing. After that, printing is only possible by registering with HP and ONLY via wifi. Absolutely not customer-friendly. Disabling the USB port is nonsense, and you should be able to print without an account.

Unusable - Prints only 20-30 pages

The printer is unusable because it does exactly nothing without registration and WLAN.

I bought it 2 months ago and have printed 20-30 pages since then. Since today, HP has been wasting my paper and toner by printing the
message x times that you have to use HP Smart - despite connection with USB cable. Using the "offline driver" doesn't help either. It always comes down to the same thing, forcing you to register and connect to the WLAN.

Unfortunately, the purchase was too long ago, otherwise I would have sent the thing back by return of post.

So if you don't want to share your data generously with HP, you should keep your hands off this device.

    Pro

    • Requires WLAN despite connection with USB

Attention: Online compulsory. This model prints only with "HP account" and internet registration.

I would think twice about buying a printer that only works if you submit to HP's terms and conditions and agree to submit data to HP with a personal online account and at the same time agree to use only HP "original" cartridges. What cannot be surpassed in insidiousness and meanness would be the fact that the printer first works "offline" for a few dozen pages and then complains with a printed "error message" that the printer can only be used with registration and "HP+". Even if one grudgingly decides to reveal one's printing data, the installation was not possible. Even after a firmware update, it was not possible to add the printer to the HP account, neither from the computer nor from the smartphone. Despite a WLAN connection, a cryptic error message ("OW_4XX_OWSWS00001") appears.

Conclusion: Better to pay the extra Fr. 25 for the Laserjet 110w model (without the "e"). The hassle and the delivery of even more data to Kraken are not worth the savings.

HP Tyranny to connect online and keep using original toner

HP imposes it's tyranny (and digitec-galaxus fails to mention that in the description) to connect the device to internet, use hp+ account which in turn enables them to control that only original toner is used. It is a masterpiece of modern slavery, where, if not connected to internet, it won't print. It's a printer! Why make it so complicated....
And then there is marketing diarrhea for the hp+ explaining how it is more sustainable, print from anywhere, etc. Why would I print from other side of the world if I can't get what I printed...
If not for the good printer as a physical product, I would give 1 star only...

    Pro

    • Dimensions
    • Fast printing

    Contra

    • Must be connected to internet
    • Must use hp+ account
    • Must use only original toner
    • Can't work offline
