The RØDE Blimp is an effective windscreen with internal suspension for an NTG1, NTG2, or NTG3 microphone, as well as microphones from other manufacturers with a maximum length of 325 mm. With the elastic Rycote Lyre suspension, the Blimp decouples the microphone from the mount, preventing the transmission of rumble and handling noises. The Lyre band is made from robust and nearly wear-free thermoplastic, ensuring a disturbance-free suspension of the microphone.

The handle of the Blimp is completely new: it not only features a lighter weight but also a more ergonomic shape. Inside the handle is a professional Mogami cable that connects to the flexible Blimp cable via a junction box. This design makes it even more difficult for vibrations to reach the microphone. Thanks to the ultra-lightweight handle and the new suspension system, the revised Blimp model weighs 25% less than the original (550 g without microphone and Dead Wombat).

The Blimp can be mounted on any standard tripod with a 3/8” thread. A universal Blimp mount is available as an optional accessory for using the Blimp with a boom pole and is mounted in place of the handle. Included in the package are a Dead Wombat windscreen, a brush, and a patch cable. The 10-year warranty demonstrates how confident we are in the quality of the Blimp. In 2009, this mount was also awarded a Red Dot Award and the Australian Design Award for outstanding product design. The warranty does not cover normal wear and tear of the Dead Wombat fur windscreen or improper handling or storage of the product.
