The wireless module board offers numerous new features to use a Raspberry Pi 3 B as a powerful smart home hub. This significantly surpasses the system performance of the Homematic central unit CCU2. Note: This is a kit that needs to be assembled! By utilizing the powerful hardware of the SBC Raspberry Pi 3 B in conjunction with this wireless module board, a central platform is available that is greatly enhanced in terms of performance specifications and capabilities. It can not only manage large Homematic and Homematic IP configurations with high performance but also boasts a significantly improved wireless range. Additionally, the wireless module board includes a high-quality real-time clock integrated with a Goldcap as a backup power source, which serves as an independent time base under all conditions. This allows for compensation during longer internet or power outages, ensuring that no time-sensitive data is lost. The open-source software HM-OCCU is available for use, which is extremely easy to set up thanks to a ready-to-use image. After a few setup steps, you can take over the backup of your CCU2 configuration and now have a fast Homematic / Homematic IP central unit. The Raspberrymatic project also targets this application case. The Raspberrymatic software is a Linux distribution based on Buildroot and the OCCU project that provides the full functionality of a CCU and is aligned with the concepts of the CCU2. For the proper housing of the combination of Raspberry Pi 3 B and wireless module board, a wall-mounted case specifically designed for this hardware combination is available as an option. Significantly improved system performance compared to the Homematic central unit CCU2.
