This allows a monitor to be attached via the 1/4 inch screw on one end, while accessories with 1/4 inch - 20 threaded holes can be mounted on the other end, such as cages, NATO rails, 15mm rods, and quick release rod clamps. Mounted with the 1/4 inch screw is a rubber pad that prevents scratches on the monitor and secures it more firmly.
