Product details
In 2008, Paul Schwedenreiter published the local chronicle of his hometown Stumpf. In it, the Wehrmacht deserters from the village are referred to as a dangerous plague. An SS man is hailed as the savior of the place. Time has not healed in Stumpf. The past does not fade in Stumpf. The past becomes more malignant with the years in Stumpf. Schwedenreiter comes from the inner mountains. At 18, he moves to Vienna. He becomes a bridge master, a reader, and a bassist. He only visits the inner mountains now. Paul Schwedenreiter's grandfather was one of the deserters. Paul does not accept the local chronicle and investigates its sloppy claims. He researches the political, professional, and military career of the SS man. His search leads him to the childhood of the Second Austrian Republic, which underwent denazification after the war at the request of the Allies.
