The SP 150-600mm G2 (generation 2) ultra telephoto zoom lens features improved optical properties that deliver impressive image results. This new lens is a logical advancement of the current SP 150-600mm (model A011), which was first introduced by Tamron in December 2013. It includes enhanced overall optical performance, faster autofocus speed, improved vibration compensation, a fluorine coating, the newly developed FLEX ZOOM LOCK, and compatibility with teleconverters.

The SP 150-600mm G2 offers enhanced optical performance and quality for greater enjoyment. It contains three low dispersion (LD) elements that significantly reduce chromatic aberrations. The optical construction consists of a total of 21 elements in 13 groups. Two special coatings, eBAND (Extended Bandwidth & Angular Dependency) and BBAR (Broad Band Anti-Reflection), provide excellent anti-reflective properties. Ghost images and unwanted stray light, particularly in night shots, are effectively eliminated, even when photographing backlit subjects.

Another improvement is the reduced minimum object distance (MOD), now at 2.2 meters, which opens up new possibilities in tele-macro photography.

For capturing sharp images of fast and distant subjects, the 150-600mm G2 is equipped with an ultrasonic silent drive (USD) engine that offers excellent responsiveness and control. The autofocus speed has been significantly enhanced, allowing for precise high-speed focusing and accurate detection of fast-moving objects.
