Product details
Rudyard Kipling published "The Jungle Book" in 1894, followed a year later by its sequel, "The Second Jungle Book". The two volumes contain loosely connected stories and poems that deal with the rise of the foundling Mowgli to become the friend of the animals and finally the ruler of the jungle. In addition, there are pure animal stories and stories with other human protagonists. The text is far removed from the numerous trivializing film adaptations; rather, Kipling describes the jungle as a place of a hard struggle for existence in the impressively impressionistic and concise style of his famous Indian stories.
