Product details
The fluctuating history and geographical features of North Frisia have profoundly influenced Storm's life and work. Born on September 14, 1817, in Husum, he worked as a young lawyer in his hometown until 1852 after his studies, founded a family, and developed his poetic abilities. After twelve years of exile in Prussia, he returned to his homeland in 1864 and served as a district governor and later as a district judge. Here, he wrote poems and significant novellas of poetic realism. Storm died on July 4, 1888, and was buried in the family vault at the St. Jürgen Cemetery in Husum. The editor has selected and commented on 28 texts by Theodor Storm. The focus is on poetic representations of Husum and its surroundings. The interplay of commented poems and prose creates a multifaceted picture of Storm's life and work, whose 200th birthday is being celebrated.
