The 40 mm F2.8 Heliar Aspherical VM / L* (M39) is a compact and versatile lens featuring a lens configuration of five elements in three groups, based on the traditional Voigtländer Heliar design. It is available with two mounts: the VM mount and the M39 screw thread (referred to here as Voigtländer L*). A lens hood and a push-on cap are included in the package. Both mount versions are available in black or silver (the lens hood and push-on cap are only available in black, even for the silver variant). The Voigtländer L mount has no relation to the L-Mount from Leica, Sigma, Panasonic, and Leitz Cine Lens.
