The WPSE346 / GP2Y1010AU0F dust sensor uses an optical detection method and features a diagonally arranged infrared emission diode (IRED) and phototransistor. It captures the reflected light from dust particles in the air. The GP2Y1010AU0F sensor is particularly effective at detecting very fine particles like cigarette smoke and is commonly used in air purification systems. The output of the sensor is an analog voltage proportional to the measured dust density with a sensitivity of 0.5 V / 0.1 mg / m³.
