The Zoom H5 is an affordable alternative to the H6 and offers the same features as the H6. The microphone capsules can be easily swapped, making the device very flexible and versatile. Included in the package is the revised X/Y stereo capsule, which is equipped with elastic suspensions for both capsules and achieves a maximum sound pressure of 140 dB SPL. A shotgun microphone capsule and an MS capsule are available as optional accessories. For connecting external microphones or playback devices, there are combined XLR/TRS jacks. On the output side, there is a headphone output and a line output with a 3.5 mm stereo jack. For on-site monitoring, the H5 features a 400 mW 8 Ohm mono speaker. The display is monochrome, and the device is powered by AA batteries. Data is stored on SD/HC cards with a capacity of up to 32 GB. Recordings can be made in WAV format or in space-saving MP3 format. The package also includes a plastic case for transporting the H5, a windscreen, and a USB cable. A well-known but highly appreciated feature is the ability to use the H5 as a 4-in/2-out USB interface on a computer, highlighting its versatility.
