According to the manufacturer, 128GB of memory can be installed, but the mainboard only has two RAM slots and the manufacturer's website only lists modules with 32GB. Are there really no 64GB bars that fit? According to the manufacturer, dual-controller dual-channel mode, non-ECC, unbuffered and CUDIMM are supported. Is there really anything to be found there or has MSI just been foaming at the mouth?
I was able to do some research and the stated 128GB is quite realistic. There are 64GB DDR5 RAM bars that would be suitable. We currently have such RAM bars, designed more for server use, in our range. I assume that MSI has not tested any themselves, so they can only fill this compatibility list with what they have tested and can confirm compatibility. A motherboard like this will work for a few more years, so I can also imagine that there is currently no great need for 128GB RAM and that they want to equip the motherboard for future requirements.
