Playseat Challenge
Also, have any of you tried mounting something rougher than a Logitech or Thrustmaster steering wheel? I'm thinking of getting Loadcell pedals and a steering wheel with a base from Fanatec.
I have a Fanatec (for the PS) with the standard pedals on it. The appropriate holes are pre-drilled on the steering wheel plate. However, the Fanatec can only be fastened with 2 screws. However, it holds sufficiently well. If you shake the steering wheel, there is no play.
The pedals are not as easy to mount as the Logitech. I mounted mine with these Velcro straps, but I had to order a longer strap separately on the internet, as the Playseat only comes with one longer strap. But it holds well, as long as the pedal unit is fixed against sliding forward. If I had to remount it, however, I would no longer use Velcro straps, but cable ties.
Although I've looked around at other racing seats, I've stuck with the Playseat so far. It is mobile, space-saving and extremely comfortable. It is also stable.
However, if taller and shorter people are to sit in it alternately, I would look for something else. The distance between the pedals can be adjusted, but the sitting position is not so easy to adjust.
Conclusion: For my purpose and for the price, it is a recommendation. If more space is available, several people are to sit on it and the budget is higher, then there are alternatives.
I tried it with fanatecv3. Unfortunately, the playseat could not withstand the increased braking pressure. So I switched to an rs1. The lower part where the pedals are is coming loose.
Btw: I still have the playseat challenge for sale. It's a very good and space-saving option, the only drawback as mentioned above.
