Yes, that works. But how well it works depends, I think, on the entire hardware (adapter, cable, screen, notebook).

If I connect my Surface Book to my Alienware 4K display with this docking, everything works wonderfully (Nvidia graphics card). If I use my HP notebook from the shop (Intel graphics chip), then grey parts of programmes on the screen flicker a little.... Obviously I have something wrong with it.
