Can it be used for photography or is it just a camera? And if it is also a camera, is it good compared to other brands like Panasonic and Sony for example?

This is a professional video camera. If you need a camera, buy something else.
There are many Panasonic and Sony cameras with different sensor sizes. You can't answer the question that way.
You buy a Blackmagic if you know exactly what you want.
