Huawei recently announced that its latest smartwatches, including the Huawei Watch 4 Pro, will support contactless payment via NFC from December 2024. This function is made possible by the integration of the "Quicko Wallet App", a Polish financial service provider that offers virtual prepaid mastercards. Users must create an account with Quicko and top it up in order to use the watch's payment function. It is important to note that a fee of one per cent is charged for payments in foreign currencies. In addition, the payment function is initially only available if the watch is paired with an Android phone; iPhone users will have to wait until the first half of 2025. This development remedies a previous weakness of Huawei smartwatches and enables users to use their watches for contactless payments.
