Hi, I would like to upgrade my MacBook Air Early 2015 from 8GB to 16GB, but according to everymac the max is only 8GB. Has anyone here had any experience with this?

Helpful answer

On a MacBook *Air*, the RAM is unfortunately soldered to the mainboard - on all generations. The installation of more RAM on MacBooks (with / without Pro) was only possible on the models before the switch to Retina displays, i.e. until mid-2012.

I did this a long time ago with my MacBook Pro 15'' (mid 2015) and still runs flawlessly with these RAM extensions.

Apple is accommodating - see the instructions at https://support.apple.com/en-us.... Select the model, read out the specs, replace the RAM, check whether it is recognised (was no problem on MacBook Pro 9.2) and - voilà, it runs and runs fast.
