Question about HP G2 Universal Dock

I have a Dell Latitude E7440 from around 2013, so without USB-C connectivity. This docking station also comes with a USB-C > USB-A adapter. The connection to the display and switching it off or putting it into sleep mode works. Unfortunately, two functions do not work, charging and switching on the notebook. Does anyone know why and can help me?

Charging via USB docking only works if the notebook is prepared for this or has a Thunderbolt connection. A 2013 model has at most a USB2 installed, which does not support the desired functions. Maybe it's time for a modern notebook !!! ;-)
