It is best to check the dimensions. The inch figure is only the screen size of the display itself and not the effective dimensions of the entire tablet including the edge.

Samsung Galaxy Tab A (10.1", 16GB, Metallic Black) = 254.2 x 155.3 x 8.2mm

So I think the Galaxy Tab A 10.1" is rather too narrow with its 155.3mm. It's not always just the display size that matters, but also the aspect ratio / format and above all the effective external dimensions.
