I use this adapter ring with a Canon R8 and a Sigma lens. There is a black edge when taking photos. Is this normal?

YES! because Sigma is an APC lens and not a full frame! In the menu first tab point no. 1 set the aspect ratio to 1.6x, then the black edges disappear ;))
