Is this camera suitable for northern lights photography?

I would use a different part, certainly not the ZVE 10.
Perhaps a model from the 6000 series. For me, the ZVE 10 is rather unsuitable for photography

Hello,
I can't answer the question about the northern lights, as I haven't been to see them yet...

The Sony Alpha ZV-E10 is a versatile camera, but for the specific requirements of northern lights photography there are a few points to consider:

## Sensor and sensitivity
- The camera has a 24.2-megapixel APS-C Exmor CMOS sensor that offers high sensitivity (ISO 100-32,000, expandable to ISO 50-51,200).
- This sensitivity is useful for capturing images in low light, which is essential for northern lights photography.

## Autofocus and focusing speed
- The camera has a fast hybrid autofocus system with 425 phase detection points and 425 contrast detection points, which enables precise and fast focussing, even in dark conditions.

## Image stabilisation
- The camera has in-camera image stabilisation, which is helpful when taking pictures in low light and with long exposure times.

## Exposure times and burst mode
- The camera supports exposure times of up to 30 seconds and a burst mode with 11 frames per second, which can be useful for capturing the dynamic movements of the Northern Lights.

## General manageability
- The camera is lightweight and easy to use, which is an advantage during long outdoor photo sessions.

Although the Sony Alpha ZV-E10 offers many of the necessary functions for northern lights photography, it should be noted that specialised astrophotography cameras or full-frame cameras may be superior in some aspects such as light sensitivity and dynamic range. however, the ZV-E10 is a good choice for this type of photography due to its versatile functions and high image quality.
