The following setup: Chest strap - > Garmin Venu SQ Music (watch) - > Garmin Connect (app). How does the app decide which heart rate and steps are now saved for the activity? Does it take the data from the watch or the data from the chest strap?

I can't answer this question, because I haven't really made the chest strap work yet. Correctly put on and humidified, the connection is confirmed on the watch, then I start on the cross trainer or cycle ergometer and the pulse rate display on the watch goes out after a short time and the app does not record anything either....
