Question about Bose QuietComfort Earbuds

These appear to only use the older version 1.x firmware, not the 2.x firmware with adjustable EQ, Bluetooth switching, silence modes. Is that correct? Also, is there anyway to turn off the bluetooth and just use the noise cancelling? Is there a way to turn them off? I mean, is it just an always on burn down until I put them back in the box?

No, you can upgrade from the App Bose Music and have all the new features. Works nice and upgrade is flawless.

So, apparently you can upgrade to 2.x from 1.x but you have to use the Bose web app to do this. Bose support said that to turn them off you had to put them back into the box. Seems like it would start a recharge cycle unnecessarily to me but Bose support said it would not affect the lifetime of the battery if I did this a few times a day.
