A formative evaluation of 'Humanities 101: A Lakehead University Community Initiative' provides a comprehensive analysis of an innovative program launched in the fall of 2005 by the Faculty of Education at Lakehead University. This twelve-week program targeted non-traditional students and aimed to provide them with an introduction to higher education. The study examines the participants' perspectives on the program's goal achievement and identifies opportunities for improvement. Valuable insights were gained through interviews with fourteen graduates after completing the program, demonstrating that the program's objectives were successfully met. The findings suggest that adapting teaching methods to the needs of non-traditional learners and providing an authentic higher education experience are crucial for the success of such initiatives. The discussion of the results offers valuable insights into the further development of educational programs for diverse target groups.
