Analysis tasks in the written Abitur examination The written Abitur subject Mathematics consists of the three subject areas Analysis, Analytical Geometry and Stochastics. Analysis has the largest share in the examination and includes the two important areas of differential and integral calculus. The central topic of differential calculus is the calculation of local changes of functions. The basic concept of differential calculus is the derivative of a function, whose geometric equivalent is the tangent slope of the function. Integral calculus can be seen as the inverse of differentiation and is defined as the area enclosed by a function\ on an interval. Using the mathematical methods resulting from differential calculus and integral calculus, the following classes of functions with their simple concatenations or linkages are analysed in the Abitur. Integerational functions Broken-rational functions Exponential and logarithmic functions Sine and cosine functions Mathematical task types in the Abitur: 1. curve discussion with extreme value task A function from the function classes is examined for symmetry properties, intersections with the coordinate axes, extreme points, turning points and area determination. Solve an extreme value problem. 2. curve discussion without extreme value problem A set of functions from the function classes is examined in its definition range for symmetry properties, intersections with the coordinate axes, extreme points, points of inflection, terrace points and area determination or its rotational volume as a function of a parameter. In addition, the locus lines of special points are often determined for function arrays. 3, Investigate mathematical models Real-life problems are described by suitable functions from the function classes and investigated in terms of relevant questions. In this way, the mathematical knowledge acquired is used in a meaningful way in concrete situations.
