Product details

The Adamic language, according to Walter Benjamin, refers to the hypothetical language spoken by Adam and Eve in Paradise. The concept of a biblical original language is rooted in Genesis 2:19-20. In the philosophy of language, this represents a fundamental language of names. For many earlier philosophers of language, such as Paracelsus, Johann Georg Hamann, Jakob Böhme, and Benjamin, it was considered the basis of linguistic development. It was often equated with Hebrew. Frederick II is said to have conducted experiments with children raised by a mute nurse to see which language they would speak, but the children reportedly died.
