Franz Xaver Ritter von Miklosich (1813 - 1891) was the founder of scientific Slavic studies and one of its most significant representatives in the 19th century. Miklosich's Slavic work is extraordinarily diverse and extensive. His main areas of focus included the comparative grammar of the Slavic languages, the etymology of the Slavic languages, and the lexicography of Church Slavonic.
