When Nathan McCann finds a half-buried baby in the woods, he assumes it is dead. But then it moves, and in a single brief moment, Nathan's life changes forever.

The little boy is sent to live with his grandmother, but Nathan cannot forget him, and he pays the old woman a visit. He asks for a simple promise: that she will eventually introduce Nathan to the boy and tell him that he is the man who found him in the woods.
